Karen has been a core member of the SB Architects team for over 20 years and became a director in 2018. With a background in residential architecture, and with a focus on environmentally sustainable design she brings ‘people focused’ collaborative approach to all aspects of the practice.
Karen has significant experience in aged care/seniors housing, child care and allied projects across Sydney and regional NSW. From master planning and feasibilities through to contract administration, Karen has the expert knowledge to work with you from inception to the completion of your project. Her understanding of how aged care works operationally, a wealth of construction experience, and technical expertise allow for the meticulous planning and strong communication required to make your project a success.
Karen’s empathy towards her clients has rewarded SB Architects with many projects from repeat clients.

AMANDA DEWHURST

Amanda has gained all her 25 years of experience at SB Architects, becoming a director in 2018.
Amanda has worked on many retirement Villages and Aged Care Facilities, including independent Living Units and Frail Aged accommodation. These projects have been in Sydney and throughout regional NSW, and ranged from small alterations and additions right through to large, brand new facilities. She is adept at understanding the operational and pragmatic aspects of the provision of aged care today.
Since the start of her time at SB Architects, Amanda has been motivated to positively influence the lives of residents by designing buildings that create a sense of community by encouraging social interaction and creating a strong link between the building and the natural environment.
